Is online banking safe?
We are serious about and committed to protecting your identity and personal information. We have implemented many new security enhancements including Multi-Factor authentication (referred to as the On-Guard security system on our site), 128 bit SSL encryption of all traffic, including your login information, and improved firewall systems.
We are also pleased to offer self created login IDs so that users are no longer required to use their social security numbers to log in. Our site is also hosted in a SAS 70 certified facility. This certification is assigned by the Federal Government to facilities and systems that meet a rigid set of requirements from multiple firewall protection to physical facility security. SAS 70 sites are also audited by the Government several times each year to verify that they comply with all of the latest standards.
The site also employs VeriSign encryption, which encrypts all traffic with 128 bit SSL protection. This encryption also protects our home page login, even though the lock symbol is not displayed in the lower right status bar. This is a commonly used feature on many financial sites.
How do I sign up for online banking?
If you are a current customer, there are a couple of ways to sign up for online banking.
- Stop by your local branch office and a Customer Service Representative can assist you with the initial login process, and answer any questions about the website.
- Contact us at 1-800-775-1889 and support staff can walk through the process with you over the phone.
If you are a new customer, a Customer Service Representative will give you your login information when you open your account, and explain the initial login process. You can also contact us at 1-800-775-1889 and the setup can be completed over the phone as well.
Will my password expire?
Yes, the self-administered passwords will expire every 180 days. When this happens, the website will prompt you to choose a new password the first time you login after the expiration. You can also change your password at any time by logging into your account, clicking on the Services and Prefs button on the left hand side of the screen and then clicking on the Change Password tab at the top of the next page.
What is the difference between Current Balance and Available Balance?
The Current Balance (ledger/book balance) represents the actual dollars in your account at the time that your account is being accessed. Items such as uncleared checks, checks you have written but have not yet reached the bank for payment, will create differences between the bank's current balance and your check register.
The Available Balance represents your current balance (ledger/book balance) plus attached lines of credit, attached savings or money market accounts and/or Overdraft Privilege funds that are included on the account.
What is Overdraft Privilege?
Overdraft Privilege is a discretionary service offered by Mountain West Bank. Rather than return unpaid any insufficient funds items, we will consider, without obligation on our part, payment of your reasonable overdrafts. Eligible personal checking accounts may have privileges up to $700.00 and eligible business checking accounts up to $1000.00.
- Overdraft privilege consideration is automatic for online banking transactions as well as checks and automatic debits.
- A customer must opt-in for overdraft privilege to be extended to everyday debit card and ATM transactions.
- We will charge our normal non-sufficient funds or overdraft charges for each item that would create an overdraft on your account. These charges are included in the limits listed above.
- You may also choose to link your savings account to cover overdrafts, which may be less expensive than overdraft practices above.
- ATM Balances include the Overdraft Privilege, so please keep this in mind as it may look like there is more money in the account than is actually available.
Are there separate login pages for Mountain West Bank and Mountain West Bank of Kalispell?
Not anymore. All customers login through the same window / box located on every page on this website (upper left corner on homepage, upper right corner on every other page). The login is programmed to connect each customer to their home bank.
Do I need to keep my email information current?
Yes, we must have a valid email address on file for you in order to send you notices regarding your account. Anytime a change is made to your account, whether by the customer or by the bank, an email is sent notifying you of the change. This is also important when attempting to identify possible fraudulent activity on an account. For security reasons, only customers have the ability to maintain their email address on online banking. To check the email address we have on file, log into the online banking website. From the left hand side of the screen, click on the "Services and Prefs" button. Next, from the tabs at the top of the page, click on the "Security Info" button, this is where your email address is stored. Make any necessary changes and click on the "Save" button at the bottom of the page when finished.
Can I download my banking information to my home PC?
Yes! A great feature of the new site is the interface / download capabilities with Quicken, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Money. We now support the OFX file formats for both Mac and PC. After logging in, go to the account detail screen and create download files to update your software. You can also use the update feature in your Quicken or or Quickbooks software to access and download your account information using the WebConnect option. We do not support the Direct Connect option.
Is there a cut off time for Funds Transfers in Online Banking?
Yes. The deadline for transfers posting on the current business day is 6:00pm MST. Transfers made after 6:00pm MST will be posted on the next days business.
